Best Parks in Utah for Birthday Parties and Picnics

By Parks of Utah · March 26, 2026

Outdoor birthday parties and picnics are a Utah tradition. The weather cooperates from April through October, pavilion rentals are cheap compared to indoor venues, and kids can actually run around. We picked 14 parks across the state, organized by the type of party you're planning.

Big Group Gatherings

Planning for 40 or more people? You need a park with large pavilions, enough space that your group does not take over the whole place, and amenities to keep kids busy while adults set up.

Cory Wride Memorial Park

This 65-acre park in Eagle Mountain has both large and small pavilions, a splash pad, zip lines, and a massive playground. Cory Wride Memorial Park also features a festival field, so even a large party will not feel cramped. Two pavilion sizes let you match the reservation to your headcount.

Vineyard Grove Park

The 120-person pavilion at Vineyard Grove Park is one of the largest in Utah County, purpose-built for big parties. The park covers 18 acres and includes a splash pad with a slide, a zipline, and age-separated playgrounds. Located in Vineyard along Utah Lake.

Jacob Hamblin Park

What sets Jacob Hamblin Park apart is the concession building with a working kitchen, including a fridge, freezer, and sink. The 37-table pavilion handles big groups easily, and there is a splash pad, playground, and BBQ grills on site. A strong southern Utah option in Kanab.

Delta City Park

Three separate pavilions with power and lights give you flexibility for any group size at Delta City Park. The park includes a splash pad, waterfall and creek feature, playground, and a stage area. A rural gem in Millard County with a waterfall backdrop that photographs well for party pictures.

Small Family Picnics

Sometimes you just need a pavilion for 10 to 20 people, some shade, and a playground nearby. These parks are sized right for intimate gatherings without the chaos of a regional park.

Hamlet Park

Tucked into the mountain town of Midway, Hamlet Park has two smaller pavilions sized for 10 to 20 people, mature shade trees, BBQ grills, and restrooms. The mountain charm of the Heber Valley makes this one feel more like a destination than a city park.

Riverside Park

Riverside Park in Morgan is a small-town park that punches above its weight. It has a fenced playground, two reservable pavilions, and a splash pad. Sitting between Ogden and Park City along I-84, it is an easy stop if your family is spread across the Wasatch Back and Wasatch Front.

Bountiful City Park

The mature shade canopy at Bountiful City Park creates an intimate atmosphere that works well for a small gathering of 10 to 15 people. Pavilion reservations run April through October. The park also has a playground and walking trail, so there is enough to keep everyone occupied.

Toddler Birthday Parties

When the guest of honor is under four, the number one priority is containment. These parks have fenced playgrounds with limited entry points, separated toddler areas, and pavilions close enough to watch kids while you serve cake.

Lehi Family Park

This $20M all-abilities park opened in September 2024 and was designed with toddler safety in mind. Lehi Family Park is fully fenced with a single entrance and exit, has a separate toddler playground, shade sails overhead, and a splash pad. The single-gate fence design is exactly what parents of runners need.

Discovery Park

Discovery Park in Pleasant Grove is fully fenced with a separated toddler area, a climbing wall for older kids, and a pavilion adjacent to the playground. One thing to note: the rubber surface gets hot in afternoon sun, so morning visits work best during summer months.

Dr. O. Roi Hardy Park

The gold standard for toddler containment in the Salt Lake Valley. Dr. O. Roi Hardy Park in Riverton is fenced with a single entrance and exit, and its two pavilions (56 capacity each) sit right next to the playground. There is also access to the Jordan River Parkway for a post-party walk.

Grant Park

Grant Park in Murray has an enclosed playground right next to an affordable pavilion with outlets and grills. The smaller scale means you will not be competing with four other parties for space. Parents consistently recommend this one for toddler birthdays.

Water Party Parks

For summer birthdays, skip the cake table and head straight for the splash pad. These parks combine water features with pavilions, so you can set up food and presents while kids stay cool.

Adventure Heights All-Abilities Park

The highest-rated park in our directory at 4.9 stars. Adventure Heights All-Abilities Park in Spanish Fork has a three-zone splash pad featuring mountain waterfalls, a river section, and spray features, each designed for different age groups. The park also has harness zip lines and all-abilities play equipment. Splash pad is open May 15 through September 15.

Blacksmith Fork Park

Cache Valley's best option for a water birthday party. Blacksmith Fork Park in Hyrum has a splash pad, fenced playground, skate park, and two pavilions that rent for $25 to $100 per day. Those are some of the most affordable pavilion rentals you will find anywhere in the state.

Archie H. Gubler Park

The best park in the St. George metro for a water birthday party. Archie H. Gubler Park in Santa Clara has four reservable pavilions, a splash pad, and a playground. Four pavilions means you can usually find one available, even on busy summer weekends.
