Liberty Park

Liberty Park is Salt Lake City's oldest park and, at nearly 100 acres, its second-largest, according to the city. The main address is 600 Harvey Milk Blvd, and several separate attractions share the grounds. Tracy Aviary covers about 8 acres in the southwest area and charges its own admission. The Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts, in an adobe house built more than 150 years ago, has free admission. Liberty Park Amusement operates rides (a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, kiddie train and more), pedal boats and a concession stand in the southwest area, weather permitting.

For play, the Rice Pavilion Playground in the northeast corner is open. The larger Rotary Play Park in the northwest area closed on September 2, 2025 for a full rebuild as an all-abilities playground, and in late September 2026 the city's park page still listed it as closed for construction (scheduled through summer 2026). The old Seven Canyons Fountain has been dry since 2017 and reopened in October 2025 as Seven Canyons Refuge, a dry art installation with light, sound and bronze sculptures. As a result, the park has no splash pad in operation as of September 2026.

Recreation includes the Liberty Park Tennis Center, a basketball court, sand and concrete volleyball courts, bocce courts, horseshoe pits, handball courts and three loops: a multi-use paved path, a wood-chip pedestrian loop and an inner sidewalk. Salt Lake County runs the seasonal Liberty Park Pool on the west side (zero-depth entry and a 25-yard lap pool); the county listed it as closed for the rest of 2026 when checked in September. Rice Pavilion can be reserved through the city, dogs are welcome on leash, and the city lists park hours as 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
